Joe Johnson

Joe and Liz Johnson are the founders and directors of Next Play Sports, serving full time in sports ministry since 1999. Previous to leading Next Play Sports, Joe and Liz were on staff with Athletes in Action. Joe was a teacher and basketball coach for 18 years before working in sports ministry. He has directed numerous basketball camps and clinics throughout the United States including international basketball competition and training. Joe also speaks on Biblical principles of life, competition, leadership and character to a variety of audiences. Both Joe and Liz received degrees at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS. Joe holds Bachelor and Masters degrees in Physical Education, Social Studies and Secondary School Administration. The Johnson's have four sons, Thomas, Craig, Alan and Michael, and reside in Asheville, NC. In addition to his work with Next Play Sports, Joe oversees the athletic program at Asheville Christian Academy.
